Trust Equestrian Sweet Iron D-Ring Dr. Bristol Bit - Size 12.5 cm (5")

Description

This jaw piece has a D shape. The D-rings ensure that the mouthpiece lies calmly and stably in the mouth. The pressure of the D against the cheek makes steering easier because the head is automatically pushed in the right direction. This makes the bit suitable for young horses, for example. Due to the shape of this jaw piece, it is less easy to pull the bit through the mouth.

The Dr. Bristol mouthpiece is a double-jointed mouthpiece with a flat insert. During relaxation, this insert lies flat on the tongue and exerts light pressure. When the horse hits the bit with the tongue and threatens to take control, the intermediate piece tilts, causing the bit to have a sharp effect on the tongue. This bit is notsuitable for inexperienced riders.

The Sweet Iron bits are made of steel and have a recognizable blue color. Sweet Iron develops surface corrosion through contact with (air) moisture that tastes sweet and stimulates the horse's saliva production naturally. This will cause the horse to foam more, which ensures better acceptance of the bit. This corroding process (oxidation) changes the blue color of the TRUST bits to brown-gray.

**Due to the contagious nature of the equine disease EHV-1 and per the biosecurity measures suggested by the American Association of Equine Practitioners 2nd Round Equestrian will no longer accept returns on New bits.**
